TONIGHT:The Orlando Solar Bears take on the Adirondack Thunder for the first of two meetings this season – Orlando will also face Adirondack next Tuesday after returning from a three-game set in Brampton. The Solar Bears and Thunder split the 2015-16 regular season series with two wins apiece.
SOLAR BEARS LOOK TO NEUTRALIZE FAST-PACED THUNDER ATTACK:The Solar Bears and Thunder are nearly identical in their goals-per game average, separated by just one-hundredth of a goal. Adirondack is sixth with 3.67 goals per game, and the Solar Bears are seventh with 3.66. Orlando and Adirondack both also lead the Eastern Conference with 22 wins when leading after the first period. Orlando is the top-ranked team in generating shots on goal (37.60 per game), while Adirondack surrenders the fewest shots on goal (27.56 per game)
FAILLE ON PACE TO SMASH ANOTHER TEAM AND PERSONAL RECORD:With 59 points (21g-38a) in 47 games, Eric Faille is only two points away from smashing the club single-season record for most points in a season that he established in the previous campaign. More impressively, Faille has racked up his totals while playing nine fewer games than he did with Orlando in the entirety of last season.
MILLER INCREASING GOAL PRODUCTION:With five goals in his last seven games for Orlando, Brenden Miller is continuing to add to his offensive totals in a breakout sophomore season. The defenseman will be leaned heavily to provide offense from the blueline against Adirondack, as the Thunder boast three defensemen who are in the top 30 for points among defensemen.
