Gibson, P.A. featuring The Master’s Academy + food drive to support The Forgotten Ones - a ministry to kids aging out of foster care.TONIGHT:The Orlando Solar Bears go for their second consecutive victory in as many nights against the Norfolk Admirals. Orlando has scored twice as many goals as Norfolk in all three of the team’s lifetime wins at home against the Admirals, after coming away with identical 6-3 wins in a pair of games in October early last season.
LANG’S RECORD IN SIGHT FOR PERRY:With five goals over his last eight games, Joe Perry is now within striking distance of tying the ECHL Solar Bears single-season record of 27 goals set by Mickey Lang in 2013-14. The third-year pro matched his own personal-best of 26 goals last night after previously reaching the mark in his rookie season of 2014-15 with the Quad City Mallards.
MAGGIO’S GOAL WORTH THE WAIT:Daniel Maggio’s first with the Solar Bears was his first ECHL goal in four years and 29 days, since last finding the back of the net with the Fort Wayne Komets in the 2012-13 season on Jan. 18 in a game against Toledo. Since then, Maggio had spent the majority of his career with several teams in the American Hockey League, including a four-game stint with the Toronto Marlies earlier this season that saw him record a goal in his Marlies debut on Dec. 10.
SOLAR BEARS CONTAIN DUPONT:Admirals forward Brodie Dupont had been one of the major keys to Norfolk’s turnaround after a sluggish start this season, but the former New York Rangers prospect was held without a point in last night’s contest, as the Solar Bears limited Dupont to just three shots on goal – it is only the fourth time in the Admirals captain’s last 13 games that he failed to make a dent on the scoresheet.
