Solar Bears Game 40 • Away Game 21 • ECHL Game 515
WHO: Orlando Solar Bears (20-13-4-2) at Florida Everblades (25-8-1-2)VENUE: Germain Arena, Estero, Fla.DATE: Friday, Jan. 20, 7:30 p.m.WATCH: ECHL.TVLISTEN: Listen on MixlrTONIGHT:The Orlando Solar Bears complete their seven-game road trip tonight as they return from the ECHL All-Star break to battle the Florida Everblades in a weekend home-and-home series starting with tonight’s meeting in Estero.
PERRY LEADS THE WAY AGAINST EVERBLADES:With the next two games against Florida, the Solar Bears will lean heavily on leading goal scorer Joe Perry, who also happens to lead Orlando against the Everblades with seven points and four goals through six games.
POWER PLAY IMPROVING:Coming off of a season-high three-goal performance on the man advantage last Saturday against Alaska, Orlando looks to continue to build on its performance on the power play. The Solar Bears are 7-for-24 (29.17%) on the power play through the first six games of its current road trip.
SOLAR BEARS GAIN SIZE WITH REASSIGNMENTS OF MAGGIO, STANTON:The reassignment of Daniel Maggio and Ty Stanton should provide some added size and toughness. Maggio is one of the bigger players on the Solar Bears roster and has played at both forward and defensive positions in his career, while Stanton (6-foot-4) is the tallest player on Orlando’s blueline among active skaters.
BAIER THREE POINTS AWAY FROM CENTURY MARK:With an assist against Alaska last Friday, Eric Baier brought his career totals in a Solar Bears uniform to 97 points (31g-66a). The defenseman is only three points away from hitting 100 career points with Orlando, which would allow him to join Jacob Cepis, Denver Manderson and Eric Faille as the only Solar Bears players to achieve the feat. Should Baier hit the mark, he will be the first blueliner in franchise history to do so.
