LAST WEEK: 1-2-0-0

Thursday, Nov. 10 – South Carolina 5, Orlando 1Orlando held a 1-0 lead in the first period after Brett Findlay redirected a Denver Manderson pass for a power-play goal, but the Stingrays tied the game near the end of the first, and then pulled ahead on a shorthanded goal by Steven McParland. South Carolina added a goal in the second period and two in the third.

Friday, Nov. 12 – Orlando 3, South Carolina 0Jon Jutzi broke a scoreless tie in the second period with his first professional goal and added an assist in the third period on Joe Perry’s power-play goal, while Kasimir Kaskisuo made 24 saves for his first professional shutout as the Solar Bears got their second home win of the season against the Stingrays.

Saturday, Nov. 13 – South Carolina 3, Orlando 2Orlando opened the scoring just 1:21 into the game when Denver Manderson scored on a wrist shot from the right circle, but the Stingrays scored on a 5-on-3 power play in the second period and eventually took a two-goal lead in the third period. Eric Baier scored a goal with 31 seconds remaining to bring Orlando back to within one, but the Solar Bears could not close the gap.

BEAR TRACKS:School Day Déjà vuWhen the Solar Bears take the ice against Greenville on Thursday morning, it will carry a familiar feeling; Orlando visited the Swamp Rabbits for an Education Day morning game only two weeks prior on Nov. 3 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Solar Bears earned a point in a 2-1 overtime loss, but made up for it the next night with a 3-2 overtime victory.

Manderson Showcasing Flashes of 2014-15 FormFollowing Sunday’s game, Denver Manderson is riding a five-game point streak (2g-4a). Manderson, the team’s MVP in 2014-15, still has some ways to go to match his career-best point streak of 13 games, in which he put up 21 points (7g-14a) from Nov. 11-Dec. 5, 2014.

Perry Continues to Perform on Power Play:Joe Perry’s power-play goal in the third period on Saturday was his third on the man advantage this season, tying him for first place in the entire ECHL. The third-year pro has also added a power-play assist, meaning he has been offensively involved in nearly a third of Orlando’s conversions on the power play this season.

Watling Continuing Strong ProductionPatrick Watling’s two assists over the weekend gave him eight points in eight total games. The native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario has been a consistent point producer for the Solar Bears since arriving in the 2014-15 campaign; despite missing time due to injury in 2015-16, Watling is one of only three Solar Bears – the others being Jacob Cepis and Mickey Lang – to maintain over a point-per-game level of production (61 points in 56 games) while appearing in multiple seasons for Orlando.
