Solar Bears receive three from Marlies

Four players recalled to Toronto

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that defenseman Daniel Maggio and rookie forward Mason Marchment have been reassigned to Orlando by the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. Additionally, veteran defenseman Taylor Doherty has been returned to Orlando from his loan to Toronto, while the Marlies have recalled forwards T.J. Foster and Chase Witala and defensemen Willie Corrin and Ty Stanton.

Maggio, 25, has played in 200 professional games with the Fort Wayne Komets, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Lake Erie Monsters, Denver Cutthroats and San Antonio Rampage, logging 32 points (8g-24a) and 789 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound blueliner played 284 games in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sudbury Wolves, Guelph Storm and Oshawa Generals, recording 100 points (25g-75a) and 491 penalty minutes.

The Windsor, Ontario native was a sixth round selection (#170 overall) of the New York Rangers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Marchment, 21, is in his first full season of pro hockey after suiting up in three games with the Marlies last season.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-4, 201-pound forward completed a major junior career with 77 points (28g-49a) and 81 penalty minutes in 115 games split between the OHL’s Erie Otters, Hamilton Bulldogs and Mississauga Steelheads.

The native of Uxbridge, Ontario is the son of former NHL defenseman Bryan Marchment.

Doherty, 25, agreed to terms with the Solar Bears earlier in the offseason and had signed a professional try-out agreement with the Marlies on Oct. 21. In 302 career professional games with the Worcester Sharks, Rapid City Rush and Toronto, the 6-foot-7, 235-pound blueliner has posted 65 points (15g-40a) and 399 penalty minutes.

Foster, 24, has accumulated five points (2g-3a) and two penalty minutes in 12 games with Orlando this season.

Witala, 21, has recorded one assist and two penalty minutes in three games with the Solar Bears.

Corrin, 25, has skated in five games with Orlando.

Stanton, 21, has one assist and 10 penalty minutes in 10 games with Orlando.
