Orlando trades Bryan Moore, rights to Rylan Schwartz to Allen
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that the club has acquired forward Chris Crane from the Allen Americans in exchange for forward Bryan Moore and the rights to qualified forward Rylan Schwartz.
Crane, 24, has skated in 14 games with the defending Kelly Cup champions this season, recording eight points (3g-5a) and eight penalty minutes. Crane was part of Allen’s back-to-back Kelly Cup champion teams, and posted totals of 20 points (10g-10a) and 20 penalty minutes in 25 postseason games with the Americans for their first-ever Kelly Cup championship in 2014-15.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward has skated in 162 career ECHL games with the San Francisco Bulls, Ontario Reign, Missouri Mavericks and Allen, recording 92 points (48g-44a) and 156 penalty minutes. The native of West Chester Township, Ohio also has 32 games of AHL with the Worcester Sharks and San Jose Barracuda under his belt, logging nine points (1g-8a) and 19 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, Crane played collegiate hockey for the Ohio State University, where he scored 43 points (24g-19a) and added 136 penalty minutes in 110 games for the Buckeyes. He also won a USHL Clark Cup championship with the Green Bay Gamblers in 2009-10 with the Green Bay Gamblers, and put up 48 points (25g-23a) and 227 penalty minutes in 100 career USHL games.
Crane was a seventh round pick of the San Jose Sharks (#200 overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Moore, 22, had amassed 27 penalty minutes in six games with the Solar Bears this season.
Schwartz, 26, had received a qualified offer from Orlando during the offseason but chose to sign with Heilbronner Falken of Germany’s DEL2.
The Solar Bears continue their fifth season of ECHL hockey when they host Missouri Mavericks for the first time in team history on Monday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center.
