TONIGHT:The Orlando Solar Bears face the Missouri Mavericks for the second and final time of the 2016-17 regular season. Orlando is looking to build on its fourth – and second straight – 50+ shot performance of the season. Every road win by the Mavericks this season has been won beyond 60 minutes of regulation play, including the team’s 4-3 OT triumph over the Solar Bears last night.
MANDERSON BOUNCING BACK:Denver Manderson continued his torrid November with his second three-point night in consecutive games on Monday. He is tied with Joe Perry for the team lead in goals scored (6), and has already surpassed his output from the 2015-16 season, a campaign that was severely limited due to injury. Manderson is one point shy of matching his totals from last season.
NEWCOMERS MAKE IMPACT:The new big bodies for the Solar Bears found ways to make their presence felt on Monday: Mason Marchment showed strong puck-protection skills, Taylor Doherty recorded five shots on goal and laid a solid check on Radoslav Illo in the first period, and Daniel Maggio assisted on Denver Manderson’s first-period goal.
SOLAR BEARS HAVE CHANCE TO CLIMB INTO THIRD PLACE:With Cincinnati idle tonight, the Solar Bears can move up into third place in the South Division with a win over the Mavericks; a regulation win would give Orlando third place outright, and a shootout win would still give Orlando the goal differential tie-breaker.
