Solar Bears make adjustments to training camp roster

Orlando’s leading scorer from 2015-16 among eight players added

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have continued to make additions to their training camp roster, as the club announced today that it has added eight players from the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

The Marlies have released forwards Bryan Moore and Sebastien Sylvestre from their tryout agreements. Both players had previously agreed to terms on ECHL contracts with the Solar Bears.

Orlando has received the following players from Toronto: forwards Eric Faille, Brett Findlay, T.J. Foster and Chase Witala, and defensemen Brenden Miller and Ty Stanton.

Faille (FIGH), 27, returns to the Solar Bears for a second season after he led Orlando in scoring in 2015-16 with 60 points (24g-36a) and 10 penalty minutes in 56 games. His 60 points also set a new single-season record for most points by a Solar Bears forward. The 6-foot-0, 180-pound forward also tallied 10 points (7g-3a) and two penalty minutes in 15 contests with the Marlies. The Lachine, Quebec native has 126 points (57g-69a) and 25 penalty minutes in 134 career pro games.

Findlay, 23, returns for a third campaign in the City Beautiful after logging 21 points (10g-11a) and 38 penalty minutes in 22 games last season, while also contributing 17 points (6g-11a) and six penalty minutes in 39 games with the Marlies. The 6-foot-0, 189-pound forward has 140 points (57g-83a) and 121 penalty minutes in 196 career pro games.

Foster, 24, finished fifth in ECHL rookie scoring last season with 54 points (25g-29a) and 17 penalty minutes in 63 games for Orlando, and also appeared in three games for the Marlies.

Miller, 22, returns for a second season in Orlando after posting 21 points (5g-16a) and 56 penalty minutes in 57 games for the Solar Bears during his rookie season.

Stanton, 21, begins his first full pro season after logging one assist in four games with the Marlies last season. The 6-foot-4, 193-pound defenseman played from 2012-16 with the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers, recording 103 points (22g-81a) and 201 penalty minutes in 229 games.

Witala, 21, is entering his first full pro season after producing two assists in three games for the Marlies last season. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound winger previously played from 2010-16 with the WHL’s Prince George Cougars, where he logged 239 points (120g-119a) and 191 penalty minutes.

Additionally, the Solar Bears have released forwards Matt Johnson and Coltyn Sanderson.

Orlando has also released forwards Bryce Hollweg and Michael Turner, defenseman Alex Brooks and goaltender Bobby Fowler from their tryout agreements with the team.

The Solar Bears 2016-17 regular season opens against the Florida Everblades on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center.
