ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced their Season Opening Roster ahead of the opening of the ECHL’s 29th season on Friday. The Solar Bears 2016-17 regular season opens against the Florida Everblades on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center, as the team celebrates Orlando United Night, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A.
Fans and media are invited to attend the unveiling of the Solar Bears 2016-17 roster to the public at the Crooked Can Brewery’s Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 12-2 p.m. at 426 W Plant St, Winter Garden, FL 34787. The Solar Bears will have a tent set up to introduce the players, coaches and dancers as we prepare for the start of the 2016-17 season. ECHL teams can carry a maximum of 20 Players on the active roster, no more than 18 of whom may be skaters, at any one time. For the first 30 days of the regular season, teams can carry a maximum of 21 Players on the active roster, no more than 19 of whom may be skaters, at any one time.
Teams are permitted to carry up to two (2) Players at a time on the Reserve List, while an unlimited number of players can be placed on the 21-day Injured Reserve.

The Solar Bears roster consists of three veterans and eight rookies. Nine players are on American Hockey League contracts with Orlando’s AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
