Everblades top Solar Bears 3-2 in OT

Everblades top Solar Bears 3-2 in OT

ESTERO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears (0-0-1-0) fell to the Florida Everblades (1-0-0-0) by a 3-2 score in overtime in the lone preseason match for both clubs on Saturday night in front of 2,798 at Germain Arena.

Brock Montgomery deflected a Denver Manderson shot from the left circle past Anthony Peters at 3:33 of the first period to give Orlando an initial lead.

Florida opted to replace Peters midway through the game with Garrett Zemlak.

The Everblades countered with a late goal in the second frame at Matt Berry beat Jay Williams with a wrist shot from along the boards to the goalie's glove side at 19:59.

Florida took its first lead of the night 21 seconds into third period after Mike Aviani beat Williams off a pass from Ralph Cuddemi.

Trevor Ludwig received credit for an equalizer for Orlando after the puck defelected off an Everblades skater at 15:22.

The score remained 2-2 at the conclusion of regulation, but Eric Scheid tallied the game-winner by squeaking the puck through the pads of Williams off a partial breakaway at 4:20.

Williams took the overtime loss with 30 saves on 33 shots; Zemlak recorded the win with 10 stops on 11 shots in 34:51 of action.
