ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, revealed their new game jerseys for the 2015-16 season in a press conference this evening at the Amway Center. The team’s light, dark and alternate black jerseys each received significant redesigns.
The Solar Bears’ light jersey – worn at home until the ECHL’s jersey reversal date on Jan. 22 – features horizontal stripes of the team’s signature Solar Bears Purple and Atlantic Teal across the chest, with the alternate logo featuring the head of Shades, the team mascot, emblazoned within a Solar Bears Purple circle bearing the team’s name. The striping pattern is repeated along the waist, sleeves and collar of the jersey.
The Solar Bears’ dark jersey – worn at home from Jan. 22 until the end of the 2015-16 regular season – features a similar horizontal striping pattern of Atlantic Teal and White set on a Solar Bears Purple base, while the alternate logo is set within an Atlantic Teal circle.
Both the light and dark jerseys feature a vintage-style lace-up collar, along with purple hockey pants and gloves. The light jersey is complimented with a White helmet, while the dark jersey features a Solar Bears Purple helmet.
“As we do often when making decisions that affect the organization, the popularity and positive feedback of the jersey worn in that memorable Mickey Lang overtime game certainly influenced this particular decision,” Solar Bears President/CEO Jason Siegel said. “We decided to borrow a look from our past with an eye towards the future.”
The Solar Bears’ redesigned alternate black jersey now features the team’s primary logo on the chest and a new block font for the jersey numbers. The collar now features a purple maple leaf as a nod to the team’s relationship with its NHL and AHL affiliates. The alternate black jersey is worn with black hockey pants, gloves and helmet. The alternate black jersey will be worn at select home games during the regular season.
Each of these three jerseys will feature logos of team sponsors Visit Orlando and Florida Hospital during the 2015-16 season.
Replica versions of all three jerseys are all now available for purchase, along with other officially licensed Orlando Solar Bears apparel and headwear online at: http://store.orlandosolarbearshockey.com/.
