Forward retires as all-time Solar Bears leader in goals, assists, points

ORLANDO, Fla. - Solar Bears forward Jacob Cepis announced today his retirement from professional hockey. Cepis has collected more goals (35), assists (77), and points (112) in a Solar Bears uniform than any player in the ECHL history of the Orlando Solar Bears.

"Orlando is class organization," said Cepis. "I had a phenomenal time playing  for the the Solar Bears. The fans are the best in the ECHL, and I consider Orlando to be a second home. The ownership is first class, and things are only going to get better for the team. I want to thank Jason Siegel and Joe Haleski and all the fans for making Orlando a special place to play."

"On behalf of our organization and fans, we want to thank Jacob for his leadership and dedication to the Solar Bears," said Solar Bears President/CEO Jason Siegel. "He provided us with so many exciting moments and was a tremendous competitor on the ice and a gentleman off the ice. We look forward to bringing Jacob back during the upcoming season to recognize him in person."

Cepis was named the "Team MVP" and the "First Star of the Year" for the Solar Bears in the 2013-14 season after leading the team with 36 assists and finishing second with 56 points. During the 2014-15 season, Cepis led the team with 41 assists and 56 points.

Cepis has started a career with Gemini Medical, Inc, a physician-founded, physician-driven organization specializing in providing group practices with creative medical facility and service solutions. He resides in Minneapolis, MN.

The Solar Bears will honor Cepis at a pregame ceremony during the 2015-16 season.
