ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning, announced today the club has re-signed rookie forward Massimo Lombardi to a contract for the 2026-27 season.
Lombardi, 24, rejoins the Solar Bears for his first full professional season after Orlando signed him to an amateur tryout in March. In 12 games with the Solar Bears, the Beaconsfield, Quebec, Canada native scored four points (2g-2a) and recorded six penalty minutes with a minus-6 rating.
The 5-foot-10, 194-pound center played four seasons of college hockey at University of Vermont. In 112 career games, Lombardi scored 44 points (21g-23a) and totaled 39 penalty minutes.
Before joining Vermont, Lombardi skated two seasons with the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL, where he recorded 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points in 48 games during 2021-22 and nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points in 27 games during the 2022-23 season.
