ORLANDO, Fla. – The Solar Bears earned five out of six possible points last week and set a franchise attendance record on Tie Dye Night Presented by Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company with 11,382 fans.

The Orlando Solar Bears, along with VyStar Credit Union, have announced the launch of a co-branded debit card, available now for all VyStar Credit Union members.

Fans can get a Solar Bears debit card when they open a VyStar account with a minimum balance of $5 at any branch location. They can also apply for membership online at apply.vystarcu.org but will need to visit a branch to get a Solar Bears card. Current members can request a co-branded card by visiting a branch, calling 800-445-6289 or speaking to a VyChat representative at www.vystarcu.org.

LAST WEEK’S GAMESWednesday, February 1 at Jacksonville: 5-4 L OTAn opening goal from Ross Olsson was answered by three straight from the Icemen to take a 3-1 lead in to the third period. The Solar Bears fought back to tie late in the game with goals from Ross Olsson and Joe Carroll just 10 second apart to force overtime. Derek Lodermier scored his second overtime winner against the Solar Bears on a power play goal.

Friday, February 3 at Savannah: 7-6 W SOThe Solar Bears equaled five different deficits on Friday night in Savannah before taking a 7-6 shootout victory. Goaltender Garret Sparks earned his first win in a Solar Bears uniform this season, making 13 saves and three saves in the shootout in a relief appearance that spelled starter Jack LaFontaine. Five different recorded multi-point games and Joe Carroll scored twice, including two, game-tying goals in the third period. Hunter Fejes scored the only goal in the shootout.

Saturday, February 4 vs. Florida: 5-4 W OTFor a third straight game, extra time was required in the Solar Bears 5-4 overtime win in front of an ECHL Solar Bears record attendance of 11,382 at AdventHealth Rink at Amway Center. Shawn Szydlowski (2g-1a), Tristin Langan (2g-1a), and Michael Brodzinski (3a) each recorded three points. Garret Sparks recorded another victory in relief of Jack LaFontaine, making 12 saves in just over 30 minutes of play. The Solar Bears put a season-high, 58 shots on goal. Joe Carroll scored the overtime winner for his fourth goal in just three games since returning from the American Hockey League’s Belleville Senators.

  • Joe Carroll is currently on a league-long, four-game goal streak dating back to December 14, 2022 scoring 5 goals.
  • Ross Olsson had his four-game goal streak snapped Saturday night in a 5-4 overtime win over Florida. Olsson scored five goals during the streak and leads the team with 18.
  • On Friday, the Solar Bears recorded a season-high, 47 shots in a 7-6 shootout victory over Savannah. That high mark would last less than 24 hours, as the Solar Bears put 58 shots on goal in a 5-4 overtime victory over Florida on Saturday.
  • Friday's shootout victory was the first of the season for the Solar Bears.
  • The Solar Bears have at least one point in six consecutive road games (5-0-1-0).
