Bear Bites: Week of Dec. 29, 2020

After an idle week during the holidays, the Orlando Solar Bears get back to action with a busy slate of games this week, including the team’s ninth ECHL home opener. The Solar Bears drop the puck on their 2020-21 home schedule with their first meeting of the season against the Jacksonville Icemen at the AdventHealth Rink at Amway Center on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.

• The Solar Bears enter the 2020-21 season with a lifetime 25-5-1-0 record against Jacksonville; Orlando is 17-0-0-0 on home ice against the Icemen 
• The Solar Bears were 8-2-0-0 against the Icemen during the 2019-20 regular season 
• Tyler Bird and Tristin Langan each tied for the team lead in scoring against Jacksonville last season with six points apiece; Bird put up four goals and two assists and led the team with a +6, while Langan notched one goal and added 5 assists 
• Chris LeBlanc needs only four more points for 100 in his career with the Solar Bears (35g-61a) – he has played 176 career games with Orlando, the most among any forward in team history 
• Alex Green leads all ECHL rookie defensemen in plus-minus at +4
