ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that the Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned rookie forward Jimmy Huntington to Orlando from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. Orlando has also announced the signing of rookie forward Bryson Cianfrone to an ECHL Standard Player Contract; in a corresponding move, Orlando has released rookie forward Anthony McVeigh.
Huntington, 21, has split his first pro season between Orlando and Syracuse. The undrafted free agent signee of the Lightning has five points (2g-3a) and two penalty minutes in seven games with the Solar Bears and has added three assists and six penalty minutes in 33 games with the Crunch.
Cianfrone (chan-FROH-nee), 25, joins the Solar Bears after wrapping up his fourth year of U Sports hockey with St. Francis Xavier University, where he tallied 36 points (15g-21a) and 22 penalty minutes in 29 games. In 107 career games for the X-Men program, the 5-foot-9, 192-pound forward collected 84 points (34g-50a) and 80 penalty minutes.
The native of Stoney Creek, Ontario played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League for the Mississauga Steelheads and Owen Sound Attack, where he produced 146 points (47g-99a) and 90 penalty minutes in 186 career games. Cianfrone also played one season in the United States Hockey League with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, where he tallied 21 points (9g-12a) and 35 penalty minutes in 52 games.
McVeigh, 26, recorded two penalty in two games with Orlando.
