ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have agreed to terms with rookie forward Dylan Fitze for the 2018-19 season.
Fitze (FITS), 25, begins his professional career after spending the past five years playing for Laurentian University. During the 2017-18 season, Fitze recorded 19 points (9g-10a) and 38 penalty minutes in 26 games. In 129 career games for the Voyageurs program, the 6-foot-2, 203-pound forward generated 73 points (41g-32a) and 248 penalty minutes.
“Dylan is a big body who loves to go to the tough areas of the ice,” Solar Bears head coach and general manager Drake Berehowsky said. “He plays a physical style that will also help create open ice for his teammates.”
Before beginning his university career, the Peterborough, Ontario native played major junior hockey for the Peterborough Petes and Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, amassing 15 points (6g-9a) and 44 penalty minutes in 70 games.
“I’m excited and grateful that the Solar Bears have given me this opportunity to pursue a career in pro hockey,” Fitze said. “I’m looking forward to October and being in front of our fans at the Amway Center and working towards bringing a championship to Orlando.”
