ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that the club has completed the following transactions from the 2017-18 season prior to today’s 3 p.m. future considerations trade deadline:
The Solar Bears have gained the rights to forward Mark Bennett from the Reading Royals as a result of the Dec. 28 transaction that saw defenseman Matias Cleland’s ECHL rights reassigned to Reading. Bennett, 26, played 39 combined games this past season with Reading, Tulsa and Brampton, registering 19 points (5g-14a) and 20 penalty minutes. He also added four points (2g-2a) in five games with Pensacola of the SPHL.
Additionally, Orlando has acquired the rights to defenseman Rob Mann from the Utah Grizzlies to complete the Jan. 29 trade that sent forward Todd Skirving to Utah. Mann, 25, recorded eight points (1g-7a) and 18 penalty minutes in 49 games with the Grizzlies this season.
Furthermore, the Solar Bears have acquired the rights to forward Stefan Fournier from the Brampton Beast to complete the Feb. 8 transaction that saw defenseman Jeff King’s ECHL rights reassigned to Brampton. Fournier, 26, logged 22 points (15g-7a) and 145 penalty minutes in 49 games with the Beast in 2017-18.
Finally, Orlando has received the rights to forward Tim Harrison from the Adirondack Thunder to complete the transaction from Oct. 25 in which Orlando sent the ECHL rights to forward Shane Conacher to Adirondack. The Solar Bears have subsequently dealt Harrison’s rights to the South Carolina Stingrays to complete the future considerations portion of the March 8 trade that brought forward Robbie Baillargeon to Orlando.
The deadline for teams to submit their 2017-18 Season Ending Rosters to the league office is Friday, June 15 at 3 p.m.
