Winquist's point streak continues as Solar Bears fall to Gladiators

DULUTH, Ga. – Joshua Winquist continued to add to his point streak with another multi-point effort, but the Orlando Solar Bears (2-7-2-0) fell to the Atlanta Gladiators (8-5-0-1) by a 4-2 score on Thursday night at Infinite Energy Arena.

ON THE SCORESHEET

  • Joshua Winquist got Orlando on the board at 1:46 of the second period to tie the score at 1-1 after Jeff King sent a stretch pass up ahead to J.J. Piccinich for a two-on-none breakaway with Winquist. Piccinich set up Winquist at the left side of the Atlanta net to fire home his fourth of the season, and the 50th career pro goal for Winquist.
  • Chris Crane netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season – and second goal in as many games – to tie the score at 2-2 at 9:25 of the third period when Winquist wired a pass from the right circle to the left face-off dot, allowing Crane to wrist a shot past Sean Bonar.
  • J. Piccinich picked up the primary assist on Winquist’s goal and added the secondary helper on Crane’s strike, giving the rookie the first multi-point game of his pro career.
  • Mackenzie Skapski took the loss with 29 saves on 32 shots against.

  • Winquist now has a four-game point streak (2g-5a) and leads the Solar Bears with 11 points (4g-7a).
  • Max Novak led Orlando with nine shots on goal.
  • The Solar Bears continue their three-game road trip Friday night as they take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at Bon Secours Wellness Arena at 7 p.m. The Solar Bears are back at home to host the Jacksonville Icemen for the first time at the com Rink at Amway Center on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
