TODAY: The Solar Bears (5-8-3-0) wrap up their two-game set against the South Carolina Stingrays (10-3-2-0) this afternoon. With Norfolk idle today, Orlando has a chance to establish a four-point cushion for fifth place in the South Division.

THREE-GOAL THRESHOLD: At the early stages of the season, a trend has begun to emerge when the Solar Bears score at least three goals – Orlando has posted a 5-3-2-0 record (12 points, .600 points percentage) when the team hits that mark, a record boosted by last night’s 3-2 win over South Carolina. Scoring first has also been advantageous for the Solar Bears, as the team owns a 3-0-1-0 record in that scenario.

SPECIAL TEAMS IMPROVING: Over the last four games, Orlando has gone 5-for-22 on the power play, (22.7%) and 16-for-18 (88.9%) on the penalty kill. Those totals measured against the season-long averages for the league would have the Solar Bears among the top five teams in the ECHL in each category.

DUPUY HITTING STRIDE: With his first multi-point outing of the season last night, Jean Dupuy now has three goals and one assist over his last four games, while recording a +5 during that span.

TURNER TO MAKE SEASON DEBUT: Forward Michael Turner is expected to be activated from injured reserve and make his season debut for Orlando this afternoon. Turner began the season on IR after sustaining an injury in preseason action against Florida.

STREAKS:

  • Max Novak – 2-game goal streak (2g)
  • Nolan Valleau – 2-game assist streak (2a)
  • J.C. Campagna – 2-game point streak (1g-1a)

AFFILIATE NOTES: The Toronto Marlies (15-4-0-0) face the Belleville Senators again at 4 p.m. this afternoon after skating to a 2-1 shootout victory over their new provincial rivals yesterday afternoon. The Toronto Maple Leafs (15-9-1-0) were doubled up by the Washington Capitals in a 4-2 loss last night, and return to action on Tuesday at Calgary.

NEXT GAME: The Solar Bears travel up I-95 to battle the Jacksonville Icemen on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Veterans Memorial Arena at 7:30 p.m. to begin a 10-game road trip. The Solar Bears return to the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center on Wednesday, Dec. 20 as they take on the Norfolk Admirals at 7 p.m. Single-game tickets for the 2017-18 season are now on sale at the Amway Center box office and ticketmaster.com.

The Orlando Solar Bears are the proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, and play all of their home games at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center, the 2012 Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year.
