PROMOTIONS:

  • Teacher Appreciation Week
  • School Supply Drive: Fans are encouraged to bring school supplies to be donated to Central Florida schools. Fans who donate school supplies will be entered into a drawing for four Gold Seats to a future 2017-18 Solar Bears regular season home game.

TONIGHT: The Solar Bears (2-4-1-0) face the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (5-3-1-0) for the first time this season. During the 2016-17 campaign, the Solar Bears and Swamp Rabbits tied in head-to-head points with 15. Orlando plays Greenville a total of nine times this season, with three games played at home.

SKAPSKI PROJECTED TO GET FIRST START: Goaltender Mackenzie Skapski is expected to make his debut between the pipes for Orlando tonight against his former club; over the course of three seasons while assigned to Greenville, Skapski appeared in 61 contests for the Swamp Rabbits, going 23-26-6 with a 3.32 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage and two shutouts. In a twist of irony, Skapski’s first-ever professional game came in a Greenville uniform against Orlando on Oct. 19, 2014 – a 3-0 win for the Solar Bears at the Amway Center.

SHOTS MATCHUP SUITS SOLAR BEARS: Already one of the top-shooting teams in the league with an average of 35.43 shots on goal per game, the Solar Bears take on an opponent which has allowed  a conference-high 40.89 shots against per game.

SHUTTING DOWN GREENVILLE IN SECOND PERIOD CRITICAL: In addition to seeking an early lead against the Swamp Rabbits, the Solar Bears will also want to be mindful of Greenville’s ability to manufacture offense in the second period – Greenville has scored a league-leading 18 goals during the second period this season.

NOVAK FINDING STRIDE: With his goal on Saturday, Max Novak has produced four points (2g-2a) over his last five games, and is currently tied with Mike Vaskivuo for the team lead in shots on goal with 25. The third-year forward has largely been skating alongside fellow Toronto Marlies-contracted forward Jean Dupuy, who also notched his first of the season on Saturday.

STREAKS:

  • Mike Vaskivuo – 3-game assist streak (3a)

MILESTONE TRACKER:

  • Joe Perry – needs 1 goal for sole possession of third place in franchise history (tied with Jacob Cepis and Brady Vail with 35)
  • Mike Monfredo – needs 4 points for 150 career pro points
  • Josh Winquist – needs 2 goals for 50 career professional goals

AFFILIATE NOTES: The Toronto Marlies (9-3-0-0) continue their swing through Pennsylvania when they battle the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday night. The Toronto Maple Leafs (9-7-0-0) earned a 4-3 shootout win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday night, and take on the Minnesota Wild tomorrow at Air Canada Centre.

NEXT GAME: The Solar Bears host Greenville in their second annual School Day Game on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 10:30 a.m. as the Solar Bears continue Teacher Appreciation Week; the team will be collecting school supplies during the game. Single-game tickets for the 2017-18 season are now on sale at the Amway Center box office and ticketmaster.com.
