ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that defenseman Alex Gudbranson and forwards Jean Dupuy and Max Novak have been assigned to the Solar Bears by the Toronto Marlies, Orlando’s American Hockey League affiliate.

Gudbranson, 23, is in his fourth season of professional hockey after splitting last season with the Quad City Mallards and the Marlies. In 167 games with Toronto, Quad City and the Iowa Wild, Gudbranson has collected 41 points (10g-31a) and 123 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, the Orleans, Ontario native played in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kingston Frontenacs and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, registering 52 points (15g-37a) and 227 penalty minutes in 243 games. He is also the younger brother of Vancouver Canucks defenseman Erik Gudbranson.

Dupuy, 23, enters his third season of professional hockey after spending the last two campaigns with the AHL’s Rochester Americans, where he put up 33 points (11g-22a) and 109 penalty minutes in 120 matches. The Orleans, Ontario native also played his major junior hockey with Kingston and Sault Ste. Marie, where he was a teammate of Gudbranson, and totaled 79 points (35g-44a) and 202 penalty minutes in 194 games.

Novak, 26, is in his third full season of professional hockey, after spending the previous two campaigns with the AHL’s Albany Devils. In 110 career games, he has 29 points (10g-19a) and 33 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, the Oak Ridge, N.J. native played collegiate hockey for Union College, where he totaled 96 points (43g-53a) and 50 penalty minutes and helped the Dutchmen capture the 2013-14 NCAA Frozen Four title.

Additionally, Orlando has waived forward Jeremy Olinyk and released forward Brandon Platt from his try-out agreement.

Orlando’s training camp roster now consists of 16 players who have agreed to terms on an ECHL contract, seven on assignment from the Marlies and one attending on a try-out basis.
