Solar Bears announce 2017-18 Season-Opening Roster

Orlando opens sixth season of ECHL hockey Saturday at Jacksonville

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced their Season-Opening Roster ahead of the opening of their sixth season of play in the ECHL. Orlando begins the 2017-18 season on the road against the Jacksonville Icemen on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Arena. The Solar Bears return to the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center to open their home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 28 vs. the Atlanta Gladiators at 7 p.m.

The Solar Bears roster consists of four veterans (skaters who have played at least 260 games of regular season hockey in qualifying leagues entering the 2017-18 season) and 10 rookies (players who have less than 25 regular season games at the “AA” level or higher entering the 2017-18 season). Seven players are on American Hockey League contracts assigned by Orlando’s AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
