Toronto Maple Leafs reassign goaltender from Toronto Marlies to Orlando
ALLEN, Texas – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo has been reassigned to the club by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Orlando’s NHL affiliate, from the Toronto Marlies, Orlando’s AHL affiliate. Orlando is scheduled to play the Allen Americans tonight at 8:05 p.m. (ET) at the Allen Event Center in the first match of a two-game weekend series.
Kaskisuo, 24, spent much of the 2016-17 season – his first full professional campaign – assigned to Orlando, where he went 14-11-2 with a 3.45 goals-against average, a .899 save percentage and one shutout in 32 appearances. He also got into seven games with the Marlies and helped the team advance to the second round of the 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs.
So far this season, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound goalie earned the win in his lone appearance with the Marlies on Oct. 15 in Toronto’s 2-1 road win over the Springfield Thunderbirds, surrendering just one goal while making 26 saves. Kaskisuo boasts a lifetime AHL record of 7-1-0 in nine appearances with a 1.64 goals-against average, a .938 save percentage and one shutout.
The Solar Bears return to the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center to open their home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 28 vs. the Atlanta Gladiators at 7 p.m.
