Jonah Imoo joins Solar Bears

Orlando adds goaltender with AHL, ECHL experience

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced the signing of goaltender Jonah Imoo to an ECHL Standard Player Contract.

Imoo (EE-moo), 23, has already appeared in two games this season with the Evansville Thunderbolts of the Southern Professional Hockey League, going 1-0-1 with a 2.88 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.

Last season, the 6-foot-0, 172-pound netminder took the ice in 25 total games with the Manchester Monarchs, Tulsa Oilers and Ontario Reign (AHL), going 8-7-5 with a 3.17 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage. In 30 career pro games, Imoo has gone 10-8-6 with a 3.27 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.

Imoo made international headlines last season while with Ontario, when he started in goal for the Reign on Oct. 22 against the San Jose Barracuda while his father Dusty Imoo – goaltender development coach for the Los Angeles Kings – served as his backup, marking the first time in professional hockey that a father and son had dressed as goaltenders for the same team in the same game.

Prior to turning pro, the native of Surrey, British Columbia played four seasons of junior hockey with the Powell River Kings and Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League, appearing in 115 games, producing a 61-42-3 record with a 2.90 goals-against average, a .901 save percentage and four shutouts.

The Solar Bears return to the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center to open their home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 28 vs. the Atlanta Gladiators at 7 p.m.
