ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have agreed to terms with rookie forward Chris LeBlanc for the 2017-18 season.
“Chris stepped into the pro game out of college last season and was able to contribute right away,” Solar Bears head coach Drake Berehowsky said. “He plays a disciplined, two-way game that we feel will fit into our system.”
LeBlanc (luh-BLANK), 23, is expected to begin his first full season of professional hockey after briefly playing for the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators and ECHL’s Wichita Thunder at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. LeBlanc appeared in six games with Binghamton, and logged five assists and two penalty minutes in seven contests for Wichita.
“I’m extremely excited to be a part of the Solar Bears organization,” LeBlanc said. “I’m looking forward to arriving in the beautiful City of Orlando and doing my part to help this team win a championship.”
Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound forward completed four seasons of college hockey playing for Merrimack College. In 113 career games for the Warriors, the Winthrop, Mass. native recorded 48 points (22g-26a) and 53 penalty minutes.
LeBlanc was originally a sixth-round selection (#161 overall) of the Ottawa Senators in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
The Orlando Solar Bears are the proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, and play all of their home games at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center, the 2012 Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year.
