TONIGHT:The Orlando Solar Bears conclude their 2016-17 regular season home schedule with a Wawa Sunshine Cup Series game against the Florida Everblades. A win tonight for the Solar Bears will secure a berth in the 2017 Kelly Cup Playoffs, but Orlando can also clinch a playoff spot under the following additional circumstances:
- The Cincinnati Cyclones lose in regulation to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits
- -OR- Orlando forces overtime -AND- Cincinnati loses
MARCHMENT CAN TIE FRANCHISE MARK WITH GOAL:Rookie forward Mason Marchment has scored at least a goal in each of his last four games since March 28 at Adirondack, and should he record a goal tonight against Florida, he will match a franchise record of five consecutive games with a goal currently shared between Brenden Miller and Ryan Cruthers. Marchment is also in possession of a five-game point streak (6g-3a).
FAILLE CAN ADD TO RECORD TOTALS:With every point he tacks on this season, Eric Faille continues to add to his legacy as the franchise’s all-time points leader and the record-holder for most points in a single season, having already shattered his output of 60 points in 2015-16. He is only two points away from becoming the first Solar Bears player to hit 70 points in a single campaign.
MASSA REMAINS ON CUSP OF SETTING NEW SINGLE-SEASON RECORD:Goaltender Ryan Massa is still in position to take sole possession of the franchise record for wins by a goaltender in a single-season, a mark he currently shares with Garret Sparks’ 2014-15 performance.
