Orlando to host Central Florida K-12 students on Thursday, Nov. 17 during 10:30 a.m. game against Greenville Swamp Rabbits
ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, have announced that the team will host its first-ever School Day Game - presented by Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers - when it takes the ice against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Amway Center in place of the originally scheduled 7 p.m. start time.
All Central Florida K-12 schools are invited to spend the morning with Orlando’s professional hockey team in a field trip atmosphere, where students will enjoy a unique educational experience while enjoying the fast-paced action of live ice hockey. Students will receive hockey-related educational materials that are curriculum-approved and cover math, science, geography and more.
A complimentary lunch will be provided for all students in attendance by Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.
“We’ve contemplated doing a School Day Game for some time,” Solar Bears Chairman Joe Haleski said. “We’ve established relationships with several school districts in the region, and this game will allow us to introduce many local children to their first-ever hockey game.”
Although this game is geared towards school groups, Solar Bears Season Ticket Members and the general public are still welcome and encouraged to attend and enjoy the events of the day. Season Ticket Members who are unable to attend the morning game will be able to exchange their ticket for a future 2016-17 Solar Bears regular season home game.
