March 5, 2016 MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Orlando Solar Bears (24-23-3-5), proud affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, fell to the Manchester Monarchs (36-16-2-4) by a 3-1 score in front of 7,647 on Saturday night at Verizon Wireless Arena. Manchester struck late in the first period when Matt Fornataro directed a pass from Michael Boivin past Rob Madore at 14:28. The Monarchs extended their lead with goals by Mark Anthoine at 16:48 of the second period and 9:10 of the third. The Solar Bears got on the board late in the final frame while on the man advantage and with Madore pulled for an extra skater, as Brenden Miller fired a shot from the left point that eluded Michael Houser at 16:37. Despite spoiling Houser’s shutout bid, the Solar Bears were unable to complete the late rally, and Manchester preserved the score for the win. Madore took the loss with 30 saves on 33 shots against; earned the victory with 26 stops on 27 shots against. For the box score, click here For tickets to the next home game, click here |
