January 28, 2016 ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears (17-18-2-3), proud affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, fell to the Manchester Monarchs (27-12-1-4) by a 3-1 score in front of 5,281 on Thursday night at the Amway Center. Both teams played through a scoreless opening period, as Rob Madore and Doug Carr traded stops. Manchester broke through with a power-play tally in the second period when Alex Guptill jammed a loose puck past Madore at 4:42. The Monarchs added to their lead with tallies from Derek Arnold at 8:40 and then Mark Anthoine at 13:23 to stake the visitors to a three-goal lead. The Solar Bears finally got on the board late in the third period when Nicklas Lindberg fed the puck to the right circle and Rylan Schwartz blasted the puck past the glove of Carr at 18:42. Despite pulling Madore for the extra skater, Orlando couldn’t complete the rally. Madore took the loss with 29 saves on 32 shots against; Carr earned the victory with 39 stops on 40 shots against.
