New Jersey Devils draft pick assigned to Solar Bears

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that G Maxime Clermont has been assigned to the Orlando Solar Bears from the Albany Devils of the AHL. Clermont was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round in the 2010 NHL Draft. 

Clermont (6-0, 201 lbs.) has appeared in two games for Albany this season with a 2.00 GAA and .923 save percentage. He has also played 17 games with the Elmira Jackals, going 6-9-1 with a 3.35 GAA and .892 save percentage. Clermont played 41 games for the Jackals last season, collecting a 20-13-5 record along with a .899 save percentage and 3.24 GAA, and in one game for Albany he suffered a shootout loss but stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced in the game. In his rookie season (2010-11), Clermont went 1-1-0 in two games with Albany and played in 31 games for the Kalamazoo Wings, going 13-10-3 with a 3.42 GAA and .891 save percentage.

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Clermont played four seasons (2007-11) for the Gatineau Olympiques, posting a career GAA of 2.85 with a .893 save percentage and 90-60-12 overall record. He was named the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Goaltender of the Week twice in 2010-11, played in the CHL Top Prospects Game in 2009-10, and helped Gatineau to the QMJHL Championship in 2007-08.
