Solar Bears acquire Cody Reichard from Utah

Goaltender has spent time with Iowa, Houston in AHL

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that they have acquired goaltender Cody Reichard from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations.

Reichard (5-11, 165 lbs.) played seven games last season for the Solar Bears AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros, posting a 2.41 GAA and .910 save percentage along with a 3-1-1 record. He appeared in 27 games for the Stockton Thunder last year, his first as a pro, going 13-8-3-2 with a .911 save percentage and 2.64 GAA.

A native of Celina, OH, Reichard played four seasons for Miami University in Ohio from 2008-2012, playing in 98 games with a 2.10 GAA and .910 save percentage along with a 53-24-9 record. Reichard led his team to a CCHA Championship in 2010-11 and was named the CCHA Humanitarian of the Year in 2011-12. He had his best statistical season as a sophomore in 2009-10, posting five shutouts, a .921 save percentage, 1.87 GAA, and 19-4-3 record. That season, he was named the CCHA Goaltender of the Year, CCHA Player of the Year, was a finalist for the "Hobey Baker Award" for best player in college hockey, and led Miami University to a CCHA Regular Season Championship.

The Solar Bears return from a four game road trip to host the Gwinnett Gladiators tonight, Thursday, January 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 26, against the Florida Everblades at 3:00 p.m. Orlando will wear special pink jerseys for both games as part of Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend, and on Sunday, the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative puck, courtesy of Florida Hospital.
