ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that they have agreed to terms with F Jacob Cepis.
Cepis (5-8, 170 lbs.) has amassed 45 goals and 76 assists for 121 points in 123 ECHL games. He played 25 games this season with Karlskrona of the Allsvenskan (Sweden) League, scoring four goals and adding three assists for 25 points. Cepis split last season between the Idaho Steelheads and Trenton Titans, combining for 25 goals and 51 assists for 76 points. He finished tied for first in the ECHL with 51 assists and his 76 points ranked third in the league. Cepis began the 2011-12 season with Tappara of the Finnish Elite League before closing the season with Idaho. He made his professional debut at the end of the 2010-11 season playing one game for the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL (American Hockey League).
Before joining the professional ranks, the Parma, OH, native played two seasons for the University of Minnesota (2009-11) and two seasons for Bowling Green State University (2007-09). He was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team in 2010-11 when he had 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) with Minnesota and the CCHA All-Rookie team with 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) as a member of Bowling Green in 2007-08. Cepis skated two seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (2005-07) in the USHL, scoring 101 points on 46 goals and 55 assists in 116 games. In 2006-07, Cepis led the USHL with 34 goals, was named to the USHL First All-Star Team, and played in the USHL All-Star Game.
