ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have loaned forward C.J. Severyn to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Charlotte is the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Severyn has played in 59 of Orlando's 62 games this season, and is currently second on the team with 21 goals and 42 points. The second year pro skated in 48 games with the Utah Grizzlies last year, earning 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. Severyn appeared in the ECHL All-Star game in late January, where he had one goal and one assist along with a +2 rating.
The Beaver, Pennsylvania, native played four seasons at Ohio State University (NCAA) before turning pro, where he notched 41 points on 25 goals and 16 assists in 140 games. Severyn was part of the U.S. National U-17 and U-18 team's prior to his time at Ohio State, appearing in 124 games and scoring 14 goals along with 28 assists for 42 points. He won silver medals in back-to-back seasons (2005-06 and 2006-07) representing the United States in the World Junior Championships.
