Pair of forwards bolster roster
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have acquired forward Rob Mignardi from the Ontario Reign and they have agreed to terms with forward Scott Tanski.
Mignardi (6'0", 186 lbs.) spent the 2011-12 season with the Manchester Monarchs and Houston Aeros, both of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 30 games split between the two clubs, Mignardi posted two goals and one assist.
The Richmond Hill, Ontario, native played five seasons in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) for the Kingston Frontenacs and Owen Sound Attack prior to turning pro. In 2009-10 as a member of Owen Sound, Mignardi led the team in points (67), and was second in goals (32) and fourth in assists (35). Mignardi scored 99 goals and added 138 assists for 237 points in 324 OHL games.
"Rob brings a good physical game while also possessing the ability to contribute offensively," said Head Coach Drake Berehowsky.
Tanski (6'0", 170 lbs.) played 68 games, scoring five goals and adding six assists for the AHL's Connecticut Whale last season, his first as a pro. From 2007-2011, the Athabasca, Alberta, native skated for the Brampton Battalion in the OHL. Tanski served as the team's Alternate Captain in 2010-11 while leading his team in assists (29) and points (47). His OHL career numbers include 53 goals and 80 assists for 133 points in 219 games.
"Rob has shown the ability to contribute offensively," said Head Coach Drake Berehowsky. "Scott is a good two-way forward who sees the ice well. He can put pucks in the net and set up his teammates."
