NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Clint Windsor turned in another solid performance with 27 saves, but Logan Thompson shut the door on the Orlando Solar Bears (13-13-4-1), as they closed out the decade with a 3-0 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays (23-3-3-1) on Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Chris LeBlanc initially appeared to have given Orlando a 1-0 lead with seconds remaining in the middle frame when he banked the puck in off the right post during a scramble in front of the South Carolina net, but the net had been dislodged at the left post a mere fraction of a second prior to the puck crossing the goal line, negating a potential score.
Jonathan Charbonneau put the Stingrays on the board at 2:20 of the third period when he redirected a feed from Matt Nuttle past Windsor for the eventual game-winner.
Andrew Cherniwchan netted an insurance goal at 7:54, and Mark Cooper put the game out of reach for the Solar Bears with an empty-net tally at 19:13.
Windsor took the loss with 27 saves on 29 shots against; Thompson picked up the win for South Carolina with 19 stops on 19 shots against.
