ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have agreed to terms with rookie goaltender Corbin Boes for the 2018-19 season.

“Corbin is a goalie that stole games for his team night after night last season, and I already had the pleasure of coaching him in juniors,” Solar Bears head coach and general manager Drake Berehowsky said. “He’s got excellent size and tremendous quickness, and we expect him to compete for us in net.”

Boes (BOHZ), 24, will begin his first season of professional hockey after wrapping up a four-year career with the Dalhousie University Tigers of the Canadian USports system. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound netminder was a workhorse in goal for the Tigers last season, as his 1,649 minutes played and 866 saves led the nation, and helped him earn a spot on the Atlantic University Sport Second Team All-Star squad. Boes appeared in 28 games for Dalhousie during the 2017-18 campaign and posted a 9-19-0 record with a 3.13 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout.

Boes was also named an AUS First Team All-Star in 2015-16 and was part of the 2014-15 AUS All-Rookie Team. In 88 career games with Dalhousie, Boes posted a 28-58-0 record with a 3.16 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage and four shutouts.

“I am extremely excited to sign with the Solar Bears and begin my pro career,” Boes said. “Drake really sold me on the organization, the fans, the city and the opportunity at hand. I can’t wait to get going and work towards bringing a Kelly Cup to Orlando.”

Prior to playing for Dalhousie, the native of Winnipeg, Manitoba played four seasons of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings, Lethbridge Hurricanes and Portland Winterhawks. In 168 WHL games, Boes went 64-70-19 with a 3.41 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage and three shutouts. Boes was coached by Berehowsky during the 2013-14 season with Lethbridge.
