ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that the club has agreed to terms with rookie defenseman Myles McGurty.

McGurty, 24, started the 2018-19 campaign overseas with Hungarian club Fehérvári Titánok of Austria’s Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, where he collected two assists and 22 penalty minutes in five games.

Prior to turning pro, McGurty played for Dalhousie University, where the 6-foot-1, 201-pound blueliner amassed 41 points (8g-33a) and 178 penalty minutes in 101 games with the Tigers program.

The native of Weehawken, New Jersey played major junior hockey for the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he recorded totals of 18 points (3g-15a) and 84 penalty minutes in 95 career games. He also appeared in nine games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League, where he added one assist and 22 penalty minutes.
