Solar Bears acquire Logan Nelson from Norfolk

Orlando gains forward for future considerations

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have acquired forward Logan Nelson from the Norfolk Admirals in exchange for future considerations.

Nelson, 24, has recorded two assists and eight penalty minutes in nine games with Norfolk this season.

The fourth-year pro has skated in 155 career ECHL games with Quad City, Wichita, Rapid City and Norfolk, tallying 84 points (41g-43a) and 150 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, the Rogers, Minn. native played three seasons of major junior hockey with the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League, amassing 159 points (60g-99a) and 149 penalty minutes. He also skated for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League, tallying nine points (6g-3a) and 69 penalty minutes in 41 games.

Nelson was a fifth-round selection (#133 overall) of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

The Orlando Solar Bears take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at the Rink at Amway Center on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the team’s second annual School Day Game.
