Forward scored seven goals in four games last week

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that F Mickey Lang has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for February 10-16. Lang finished the week with seven Mickey Langgoals and one assist to help the Solar Bears to a 4-0-0 record last week.

Lang started the week with a four goal effort on Tuesday, February 11, as Orlando defeated the Eastern Conference leading South Carolina Stingrays by a 5-2 score. In Orlando’s next game, on February 13, Lang tied the game at 1-1 with a second period goal before D Blake Kessel knocked in the game winning goal with 1:30 left on the clock. Lang then added an assist in a 4-2 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday night, and closed out the week by sending the game-tying goal into the back of the net with 9.8 seconds left in regulation and then potting his second of the game 1:10 into overtime to help the Solar Bears to a 5-4 win over Gwinnett on Saturday.

The Reno, NV, native has notched 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points in 12 games with the Solar Bears this season, and leads the ECHL with 29 combined goals between Orlando and Fort Wayne. Lang has appeared in five games with Orlando’s AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild, scoring one goal.

On behalf of Mickey Lang, a case of pucks will be donated to an Orlando youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL.
