Defenseman returns from second AHL recall to Marlies

Solar Bears defenseman Brenden Miller has been recalled by the Toronto Marlies.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that defenseman Brenden Miller has been reassigned to the club by the Toronto Marlies, Orlando’s American Hockey League affiliate. The Solar Bears have also released rookie defenseman Kyle Shapiro.

Miller, 22, returns to Orlando following his second recall of the season on March 7. Miller has appeared in two games with the Marlies, where has recorded one goal. The second-year pro has 26 points (11g-15a) and 70 penalty minutes in 46 games with the Solar Bears this season.

Shapiro, 27, signed with the Solar Bears on Feb. 2 and logged three assists and eight penalty minutes in 14 games with Orlando.

The Orlando Solar Bears continue their fifth season of ECHL hockey when they host the Utah Grizzlies at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center on Sunday, March 12 at 1:30 p.m.
