TONIGHT: The Solar Bears (4-8-3-0) return home to the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center for a two-game set against the South Carolina Stingrays (10-2-2-0). Orlando won the 2016-17 regular season series against South Carolina by going 4-3-1-0 against their South Division opponent – the Solar Bears will face the Stingrays a total of 11 times this season (five home, six road).

WINQUIST SETS SIGHTS ON FRANCHISE POINTS STREAK MARK: With two assists on Wednesday at Jacksonville, Joshua Winquist claimed his stake to the longest assist streak in team history at eight games (12a) – he still has five more games to go to match the longest points streak in team history, currently shared by Greg Miller and Denver Manderson.

POSPISIL TAKEN OFF IR: Rookie forward Kristian Pospisil could make his home debut for Orlando tonight after being removed from the injured reserve. Posipisil had been sidelined since sustaining an injury in Orlando’s 4-3 overtime win at Allen on Oct. 22. At the time of his injury, the Toronto Marlies-contracted winger had recorded three goals on only six shots to lead the ECHL in shooting percentage (50%).

NELSON TRADED TO KOMETS: The Solar Bears have traded forward Logan Nelson to the Fort Wayne Komets in exchange for future considerations; Nelson appeared in seven games for Orlando and recorded three assists and two penalty minutes after being acquired from the Norfolk Admirals.

STREAKS:

  • Joshua Winquist – 8-game point streak (3g-12a)
  • Martins Dzierkals – 3-game point streak (3g-1a)
  • J.J. Piccinich – 3-game goal streak (3g)

AFFILIATE NOTES: The Toronto Marlies (14-4-0-0) brings the Battle of Ontario to the AHL this afternoon when the Marlies take on the Belleville Senators at 1:30 p.m. The Toronto Maple Leafs (15-8-1-0) picked up a 5-4 road win at Carolina last night and are back at home this evening to face the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m.

NEXT GAME: The Solar Bears continue Geek Weekend when they host Star Wars Day against the South Carolina Stingrays at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center tomorrow on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. – Sunday’s game is also a FAIRWINDS Solar Bears Sunday.
